This year numbers were down. Just 17 barbeque cookers entered the Lone Star Barbecue Association sanctioned Meridian Chamber of Commerce Chigger Fest cook off.
Of these pit crews, the 11 Bosque County teams also competed in the brisket-only Go Texan Cookoff. Judges awarded his traditional Texas dry rub, low and slow cooked brisket with the first place
Scott Parks is a regular to Meridian cook offs with his “Fire in Da Hole” rig. He likes a smaller event.
“The brisket turned out well, and it’s the most consistent,” Parks said before the awards ceremony.
